Maltese Cross  The runners-up prize for eTwinning 2007 was a visit to a Professional Development Workshop in a hosting country of my choice.I chose Malta of couse. I will heading off on the 18th and be returning on the 23rd. Baggage restrictions on RyanAir rule out bringing over arts and crafts gifts so if the classes involved in the project want to make a big card each that would be great.

The Sea Stallion of Glendalough

The Sea Stallion of Glendalough set out from Roskilde on its historic voyage to Dublin a month ago.The Sea Stallion was built at the Viking Ship Museum between 2000 and 2004 and is an exact replica of a Viking ship originally built in Dublin in the year 1042. In 1072 the original ship, which is now on display in the Roskilde Ship Museum, was scuttled in Roskilde Fjord as part of the city defences. This maritime reconstruction is exact in every detail. It has no modern conveniences or allowances for privacy. The mixed crew are enduring a gruelling voyage through the North Sea, north to the Orkney Islands and then south through the Irish Sea to Dublin.

Click on the map on the left and you can follow the Sea Stallion of Glendalough by the hour – all the way to Dublin. The ship left the museum harbour at the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde for its six week voyage to Dublin today at 16.00 hrs (Irish Time). The reconstructed longship is making its way up Roskilde Fjord and up through Kattegat and on to the Orkney Islands and then eventually down the Irish Sea to Dublin port.

Trial Sailing around the Skagerrak  Video Podcast

Here you’ll find different video clips of the Sea Stallion of Glendalough before its voyage.

The crew hope to record videos of daily life onboard the longboat as it makes its way to Dublin. It is hoped that the movies will be uploaded to the video podcast page of the website on a regular basis.
