The Sea Stallion of Glendalough

The Sea Stallion of Glendalough set out from Roskilde on its historic voyage to Dublin a month ago.The Sea Stallion was built at the Viking Ship Museum between 2000 and 2004 and is an exact replica of a Viking ship originally built in Dublin in the year 1042. In 1072 the original ship, which is now on display in the Roskilde Ship Museum, was scuttled in Roskilde Fjord as part of the city defences. This maritime reconstruction is exact in every detail. It has no modern conveniences or allowances for privacy. The mixed crew are enduring a gruelling voyage through the North Sea, north to the Orkney Islands and then south through the Irish Sea to Dublin.
