Great News everybody! We have the first results of the Golden Boot Competition. It was a very close call in the end. Mr. Maguire’s 3rd class had a staggering 81% of children walking or cycling this week but were pipped to the post by Ms. Dolan’s 4th class with 81.3% of children walking or cycling. Alison and Emma, the two Green Schools representatives in Ms. Dolan’s class proudly accepted the Golden Boot and Homework Off Pass on behalf of their class. Well done! Good luck to the other classes next week. Remember, leave those cars at home and Walk, or Cycle to and from school!
On Wednesday 16th September we relaunched our WOW days here in the Senior School. WOW as you know is Walk (or cycle) to school once a week or on a Wednesday (if you cannot do it everyday). Lots of children walked on Wednesday, and again on Thursday (the sun actually shone for us on this morning!) and we are hoping these good habits will continue all the way throughout this coming school year.
To jolly everybody along, we have a little incentive scheme running in the school, our “Golden Boot” award. This boot was donated by none other than our Principal, Inion UiMhairtin and will be sprayed Gold. Inside this boot we will put a Homework Off Pass for the class who wins and this can be used at the discretion of the class teacher on a night agreeable to all. Good Luck to all those children who are making great efforts and to the Mums and Dads who are leaving the car at home. If you live further away, park nearby and let your child walk for even five minutes. Watch this space for more information!

There will be an EMERGENCY ACCESS corridor to the schools and oratory from Ludford Drive, for use by the emergency services only. It will not be possible to come in from Ludford Drive and turn outside the school gates.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Salut !.
In 6th Class we have been studying French. It allows us the opportunity to hear French being spoken as a language before we go to Secondary School. Our French Teacher, Mrs. Gogarty was really good.
During the year we played games , learned songs ,and watched a video to help us learn the language. When the lessons finished in May we celebrated with a French Day. We all dressed up in the French national colours . We played French music CDs and had a party . We ate croissants, brioche, brie (a creamy French cheese) and had French baguettes to finish up. The best part was we all tried to speak French that day. I guess we had to or we got nothing to eat. It worked! 😆
The school will close early at 12.00 noon on Friday, September 12th 2008 to facilitate the first staff meeting of the new school year.
